Frequently Asked Questions

Eligibility depends on where you live and your utility provider. In Massachusetts, most homeowners, renters, and landlords who receive electricity or natural gas from a Mass Save® participating utility may qualify for a no-cost Home Energy Assessment. In Rhode Island, similar assessments may be available through state and utility energy efficiency programs for customers of participating energy providers.

Eligibility requirements can vary based on factors such as your utility provider, property type, and whether your home has received a recent assessment. Our team can help review your situation, confirm eligibility, and guide you through the next steps.

Just your electric bill. That’s it! We’ll handle the rest.

Renters and condo residents may still qualify for a home energy assessment, but the process can vary depending on the type of building.

For single-family homes or small buildings (typically 1–4 units), renters may be able to participate in an assessment. However, the landlord or property owner must be involved and provide approval before any upgrades, such as insulation or air sealing, can be completed.

For buildings with more than four units or condominium associations, the property generally needs to go through the multi-family energy efficiency program, which is designed for larger residential buildings. Participation in this program typically requires coordination with the building owner, property manager, or condo association board.

If you are unsure which program applies to your building, the Wattson Home Solutions team can help determine the appropriate pathway and explain the next steps.

Yes. Our team knows the ins and outs of state rebates and will make sure you get every dollar you deserve.

A Mass Save® Home Energy Assessment is no-cost for qualifying customers. The Mass Save initiative is sponsored by a collaboration of Massachusetts electric and natural gas utilities and energy efficiency service providers who help cover the cost of the service for eligible homeowners and renters.

These programs are funded through energy efficiency charges that already appear on many utility bills. Because of this, qualifying residents can take advantage of a professional home energy assessment at no additional cost and receive recommendations for improving their home’s energy efficiency.

Yes. A Mass Save® Home Energy Assessment is no-cost for qualifying customers and provides personalized recommendations to help improve your home’s efficiency. The assessment identifies areas where energy may be wasted and outlines upgrades that can reduce energy use and improve comfort.

Many recommended improvements may also qualify for rebates, incentives, or even full coverage through Mass Save programs, making upgrades more affordable for homeowners.

For example,  improvements such as insulation and air sealing can reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 15–20%, according to Mass Save program guidance. (https://www.masssave.com/residential/rebates-offers-services/insulation-and-windows/insulation-and-air-sealing)

Additional incentives may include rebates for installing ENERGY STAR® certified equipment, such as heat pumps and boilers, as well as access to 0% interest HEAT Loans for larger energy efficiency upgrades.
